The Northern Kiwanis is proud to announce this year’s scholarship recipients: Estelle Geis-Moffitt of Whetstone High School and Kristina Ma of Columbus School for Girls. Both students have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and a commitment to community service, embodying values of the Kiwanis organization.
Each year, the Northern Kiwanis works hard to raise funds for scholarships that support local students in their educational journeys. Through community events such as the annual Fish Fry, Easter Egg Hunt, and OSU football tickets raffle, we are able to offer financial assistance to students who exemplify service, dedication, and leadership. We wish Stella and Kristina much success as they begin their college experience.
The Northern Kiwanis is honored to support Stella and Kristina as they embark on the next chapter of their educational journeys.
Congratulations to the 2025 Northern Kiwanis Scholarship recipients:
Stella Geis-Moffitt plans to attend The Ohio State University and study Occupational Therapy. She has excelled in academics and earned recognition as an AP Scholar. Stella’s leadership extends to her involvement in sports, where she’s been a key player on the Whetstone Girls Tennis Team, earning varsity letters and multiple City League championships. She has also been an active member of the school’s performing arts programs and Key Club, where her commitment to serving others is evident in the hundreds of volunteer hours she has contributed.
Stella is also a dedicated 4-H member, where she has taken on leadership roles and volunteered extensively, including supporting the Clintonville Community Resource Center and mentoring younger 4-H members. Her community service work with organizations such as Special Olympics, LifeTown Columbus, and the Clintonville Beechwold Community Resource Center further reflects her passion for helping others, particularly those with disabilities. Stella is excited to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy and is committed to making a positive impact in her future endeavors.
Kristina Ma, Columbus School for Girls. 2025 scholarship winner
Kristina Ma plans to major in Political Science or Public Policy, with an eye toward institutions like Boston College, Cornell, and OSU. As student council vice president, Kristina led initiatives that improved student life, such as persuading the dean to add break time and establishing the “Letter to Future Graduate Self” tradition.
Beyond school, Kristina founded SociEmoti, a game app designed to help individuals with autism form friendships and find employment. Her advocacy work includes initiating Ohio House Bill 565 to increase diversity on the State Board of Education and working with policymakers to amplify student voices in education.
Kristina has received numerous awards, including being named a finalist for the US Senate Youth Program and selected for the City of Columbus’ 20 Under 20. Her leadership, innovation, and commitment to social change make her a standout in her community.
